According to an infographic with summarized data from Chop, 148apps and Chillingo, Apple's iTunes App Store is now home for more than 500,000 applications "and counting", surpassing a huge milestone of its existence.
There are more than 85,500 developers at work and from the total of 500,000 applications 37% (185,000) are free. The rest go for an average price of $3.64. Launched on July 10, 2008, the App Store managed to hit 500,000 applications in less than three years.

Breaking down into categories, the current App Store content looks like this: books 14%, education 8%, entertainment 11%, games 15%, lifestyle 7% and other 44%. Each developer has a number of 4.6 applications up in the App Store on an average and the value of all applications is $891,982.24.
