HTC Salsa and ChaCha Facebook Phones

We showed them to you first, and today they became real. What we have here are two low-midrange Android phones that feature a suite of additions to the Sense UI to bring Facebook functionality forward. That means that, for example, the HTC weather clock has been updated to show friends' status updates. Also, an array of widgets have been added beyond the typical Friend Stream that let you view the status of individual people like through the Friend Channel widget. There's also a native Facebook chat client that looks pretty well-done. Oh, and they both have a dedicated Facebook button to allow you to share what you're currently doing. Both devices will launch globally in Q2 of 2011. In the US, expect it to land on AT&T "later this year".
More specifically, the HTC Salsa is sporting specs not dissimilar to the also recently announced Wildfire S. It's running with a Qualcomm 600MHz CPU with 512MB of RAM and ROM. The screen is 3.4" and HVGA 480x320 resolution. The camera on the back can take photos at 5MP without HD video recording, and there is a front-facing camera for video chat. Expect great battery life out of the Salsa, with a capacious 1520mAh battery.
Then we have the ChaCha, which features a full QWERTY keyboard that reminds of the old HTC Snap. It's packing a smallish 2.6" HVGA 480x320 display and is just 10.7mm thick. Like the Salsa, it's using a 600MHz Qualcomm single core CPU with 512MB of RAM and ROM. The camera takes 5MP photos with no HD video, and there is also a front-facing camera for video chat. The battery is 1230mAh. As you can see from some of the below images, HTC has had to more heavily alter HTC Sense to make it work for the HVGA landscape display.
